Aceran Aryth

I had always been a sickly child. The very fact that I survived through my childhood years was a miracle. I grew up in a distinctly human settlement. It was a rather small town just off the great city of Ulaid. The man I grew up to call father was a simple woodsman, probably the only human I had ever truly respected. His wife, a rather cheerful woman of distant elven descent, was a healer of sorts and the only mother I knew. They had brought me up as their own and named me, 'Aceran'.

As a child, I had never suspected my parentage for I had received as much love and attention as my sister, Ailera. In time, however, it became apparent that I was not of their flesh and blood. Unlike my sister, my elven features grew more pronounced over the years and while she had inherited the dominant features of her parents, I had inherited none. Furthermore, quite early in my life, I had developed a strong affinity to magic, a talent that had never surfaced in the family before.

I was a fragile child, never favouring the violent games the human children seem to find amusement in. Not that I was ever invited to play, for that matter. I was different, thus I was shunned. The only friend I had, that I could trust, was my sister. I spent my days in a world of my own, preferring the solitude the nearby forest afforded me. I tried to understand the human way of living and tolerate their buildings of stone yet it all stayed foreign to me. I knew I did not belong.

On my eighteenth name day, I decided it was time for me to leave everything that I knew behind. My decision met no objection. My parents knew the time would come when I would want to venture out into the world to find a place for myself. They did, however, protest when my sister offered to accompany me on my journey. They eventually conceded and soon I found myself journeying east, dragging an annoying yet adorable little menace behind me, towards the city of Stonegate.

...But my journey did not end there. My feet took me further east, east until I came upon an entirely different sort of city. Kisah. The sights and sounds of the elven city overwhelmed my senses at first, but walking through the streets, it felt as though I had done it all before. I was home.
