Born and raised in a village within the kingdom of Antonsburg, far to the south, Alai Striker lived the normal life. Being the oldest of his three brothers and two sisters, he often helped with the various chores about the house. Alai's father was a farmer, and thus they owned quite a bit of land. At about the age of sixteen, Alai met a unique figure. Aston Ravenhart. Aston and Alai's fathers had been long friends, and served beside each other in various battles and wars within the kingdom of Antonsburg, including the troll uprisings. Alai had always looked up to his father for his courage, and knew that some day he would have the chance to live up to the legacy his father had left him. When Aston came to his home, he knew that something was amiss. Aston spoke of a man named Cambryne, and a rising urge to travel north; that there was something amiss. Aston came to give the warning that there would come a time soon when Alai's father would be called on. Alai's father knew that he must stay with his family, and help to raise his daughters and sons, and so he called Alai aside one day to have a private speak with him. He told Alai of "The old code." Alai listened intently, and knew that he was called to become such. From that day forward he trained, in body, heart, and mind. Alai was a fast learner, and soon began taking private lessons from Aston, after his father had taught him all there was to know of conduct and being a gentleman. Exceeding in the blade, Aston saw the potential of Alai, and the gentlemanly charachter of his heart, and thus vouched to have him sworn in as a Knight of the old code. For fifteen years Alai served, building his reputation as a goodly man, and eventually making High Knight of the Code, serving directly under Aston. One day the old preist Cambryne returned and spoke that it was time to assmeble the Men. Alai was sent ahead of the Knights, to show the goodly folk of the intent of the Knights. Not too long after, more of the knights arrived within kirganthis. This is what it means to be a Knight of the Old Code. - By our lives, and with oaths, we swear to never do outrage nor murder, To always flee treason, To by no means be cruel, but to give mercy unto who him who asks for mercy.
