Xaneros and the Island of Doom
by Xaneros Wyarth
The rain drops fell down at a slight angle from the porous clouds in the dark sky. It was not a completely undesireable day, as adventure was in the air... well beside the rain that is. And it was on this day that a small group converged in the center of stonegate for a most odd journey, one that would take them to a far off island...Carrion Island. A pair of men and lone woman looked through their belongings carefully. "We have everything?" The woman asked, glancing through her pack. "Yeah, I think we have everything Alaina." Xaneros nodded, packin away a pile of wrapped up pies, as he offered a glance to the third. "We forgetting anything Calvin?" "I dont think so... let us be off." The others nodded, moving quickly south and down the long stretch of main-street, eventually arriving at the south gate of Stonegate, and beginning the next leg of their journey to the island. The way was clear, providing evidence to the work of the retired Roadguards
of Forge, and in no time at all the group arrived. The boom of the merchant's
quarter was a welcome change to the quiet, almost dangerous streets
of Stonegate. Passing through the mixed aromas and sounds
of the quarter, the group soon arrived at the Center of the city, glancing
south down over the remainder that blocked them from their destination.
The group did not dally, and within minutes they arrived at the narrow boardwalk
that, when the sun rised, would provide them access to the
dread island of Doom. The minutes passed quickly, and at last with the
rising sun the group trekked towards the sea. The group quickly charged the front shore of the island, their weapons clashing and clanging, and providing their own battle music. But the rythmic clanging was soon to be broken by the ear-shattering screams of hundreds of seagulls in unison. "Oh crap..." But Xaneros' curse was lost in the drowning squawks. And soon the first two sentinels turned into an army of beaks and claws. But the group fought on. *SQWAAAKKKKK!* But the group was strong, and with the add of the sandy dunes, they managed to hide themselves from another unit of seagulls, progressing to the dark tower on the southside of the island. "At last!" Calvin's enthusiasm was a shared sentiment. And the group smiled weakly as they looked down on the Tower. What evils lurk within? Will the group survive? And what will the group
do when they realize that there are seagulls right behind them? |
